Windows 7 Freezing

I'm trying to install my Steam games, and I was installing CSS, and I got back from lunch, and pretty much everything froze, except Steam, my cursor would go into the loading symbol when I put it on the taskbar or anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Windows 7 is still in beta version. Lockups, freezes, and incompatibilities are to be expected until it's actually released to the public.

Yeah, I know, I understand the definition of beta, but this happened 3 times in a row, everytime I restarted, surely they didn't release a trial to just see the desktop.

Well it IS Steam we are talking about, not the most friendly app in the world due to it adding its own system files. Possibly has a conflict somewhere.

Hm, OK, I'll give it some time and try again later. My friend was using Windows 7 and he had all of his Steam games installed, so I guess it works, just a hit or miss really.

Thanks.

Having 3 freezes in a row doesn't mean anything except, it's only a beta. :P

Well it must pick and choose then, at one of the last LANs I was at, one of the guys had 7 running, and he had all of his Steam games installed, and was running them.

Well, a beta is not going to work the same on all systems. There might be some hardware that is not fully capable yet, until they release to public.
