Hi guys,

i have 320G HD and 2 partitions C:90G and E:200G (lost 30G somewhere but thats not the issue). I transfered all wanted files to E: and inserted xp pro to reformat C: and i thought the E: wont be touched but i was wrong. on the xp boot up (blu screen) when selecting the partition i only had 128G which was strange (wheres my 200G) any way i continued installing and now cant find the 200G with all my stuff. I am sh&&&& myself. Can any1 help? iv tried these partition recovery programms:
active partition recovery
handy recovery
pandora
stellar phoenix
total recall

they can only see the 128G

You must have used a pre-service pack CD of XP. Older XP CD's only saw 128GB. It sounds like you selected the wrong partition to install windows on - that or the XP CD was unable to see all of the drive and just re-partitioned and formatted the drive.

thank for the info.

finally found a program PTDD and its found the 200G partition...just in the process of trying to retrieve the files or try and mount the drive...update soon
