vista can't see scanner

loaded Vista but it can't find my epson 1640 SU perfection scanner. Downloaded vista driver from epson site but vista still won't load it. "Install Hardware" thinks it's a Xerox work center pro scanner and will not recognize it as anything else. This scaner is old but has great features, I like it better than the newer ones I own.

is the drivers TWAIN 5 Driver v5.71A? that you download and install. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/...oid=32724&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows
