psu making weird noise

I have an OCZ 600watt PSU and it works great, but when my computer is off, I can hear a very high pitch noise/squeal coming from it. My brother can't hear it, but i can. Is this bad?

Powersupplies sometimes make weird noises. It's probably just a electrical noise, usually nothing to worry about.

Mine does the same thing, I just ignore it.
If I ever find it really annoying, just flip the switch on the psu, it stops it.

Why is your power supply running when the computer is off?

Your PSU is still supply a small amount of power to your computer when it's off. That's why sometimes you see USB devices still run even with the computer shut off.

thermal reactor, im younger than him. I dont know why I didnt hear it, but ive got high pitched squealing all the time anyways so....just like the stinkin old TV's, I always hear them even if the sound if off.

Back on topic, then I take it this is nothing bad?(im checking for allmine cuz he's got work :D)

EDIT: I went to his computer and checked it again, and viola, I heard it. But it turns off within a few seconds that I cut the power, I tested it several times. So then its just the coils right? Or could this possibly mean faulty coils?

Over time our hearing goes and we loose the ability to hear higher frequences, that is why you can hear it and he can't.

The sounds are normal and you are just very sensitive to it. The only suggestion I can think of is to flip the power switch on the PSU everytime you turn the comp off.
