I just bought an AMD 9950 125 watt Black Edition 2.6 Ghz. I would like to know which one will do a better job. I have an Artic Freezer on the way, since it said that the processor didn't come with a heat sink and fan. Any advise would help.

I am not sure how helpful this will be, but I will post it anyways. I have a socket 939 dual core AMD processor. I too bought this processor without a fan, and purchased the Arctic cooling freezer 64 PRO. My processor idles from 28 - 30 degrees celsius, and never goes over 42 even under stress from long term online gaming. My old single core processor and heatsink was warmer than this dual core setup. I even used the thermal paste that was already applied to the cooler. Long story short, if the new freezer is anything like the one I have, there will be no comparison between the stock unit and the freezer. The freezer is an excellent cooler.

Have you prime95 or Orthos your CPU Wingzero? I would be interested to see if that statement stands true to 100% load. Also what is the temp in your room for these temps?

Also he is right A64 will be better then stock for sure.

I have the AMD 9950 BE and the stock cooler that it comes with isn't bad at all. It has a good copper base, and a large heatsink. Probably not worth getting the Arctic Freezer, maybe if you can go for a Zalman 9500 or 9700 it would be worth it.

No, I have not run the programs you mentioned in order to "stress" the processor and see how it handles. However, my computer does have PC doctor on it which has a stress test that can be run. I guess I will have to run the test when I have free time and see what happens. I use the bios, speedfan, and PC wizard 2008 and all list the temp within a couple degrees of eachother, so I am fairly sure they are correct. Understand that I was not trying to mislead anyone, I was merely stating my temps at idle and after gaming for 2 hours or so. As far as the temp in the room, it ranges right now anywhere from 60 to 86 degrees because it is upstairs and depends greatly on the setting for the heat.

Thanks, for all the help. I went ahead and installed the Freezer 64. Everything seems to running cool. It was going to cost me more than it was worth to send it back, so I used it. :D
