Best Gaming Monitors?

I was using a 20" widescreen that came with my Dell over 5 years ago until it started blacking out on me every 20 seconds or so. I believe the backlight burned out, so I've been looking into getting a new monitor.
I'm looking to spend $200-$350 for something larger like a 22.5" and 2-5ms.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
 
well ive got a Acer 22inch and it works great havent tried gaming to hardcore on it
also samsung syncmasters are very nice monitors
 
I've been asking this question for the past few days or so now lol. I just bought the monitor in my sig tonight so when I get it, I'll post a review of what I think. I've always liked Acer so I trust them to deliver a decent product. I've heard Samsungs are really good but they cost a bit more than the average monitor.

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 204B 20.1 inch 5ms response time monitor, which I paid a ton for back in the day. However I'm pretty sure its on its way out. Tell me how you like that one maybe I will look into it.

They are considered better for gaming because of there refresh/response rate is instantaneous. The colors are produced using a ray type technology. The picture is directly applied to the monitor. LCD's use technology that blocks some pigments out and w/ not to get the picture. So response time and clock speed I believe are big factors in this.

This is all information I have heard and may not be 100 percent accurate. Just by doing a Google, yes many think that it is better to game on a CRT.

I definitely will. Hopefully it will arrive on Saturday sometime and I'll post my initial impressions on here as well as a hefty review after about 4 days of use with gaming, videos, movies, and net surfing.
 
Most screens are pretty good these days - the acer in my sig was cheap and I love the size of it. I've had absolutely no problems with gaming either, it's a really nice screen and quite quick (5ms I think).

I've personally had problems with samsung screens - one developed a whine, and the other more recent 20" has light and dark vertical lines appearing... But others say they're great, so maybe I'm just unlucky
