Is Vista really as bad as people say. My friend said, it crashed his computer, but after that, it's sweet. Haha

JW if the rumors are true

Vista has had some compatibility issues w/ hardware and software. This is mostly fixed now and Vista is stable in my opinion. The problem was that it was launched with all those problems so all the people who purchased it early gave it a bad name. I'm running Vista 64 bit and love it!

Your not the only one to be honest id still love to be with XP but id prefer vista over windows 7 for some reason i guess its like having a new friend? :D

Vista is pretty good and the only problem with it I see is it's bloated but with windows 7 they fixed that.

vista got a bad wrap. it DID suck. they made it a lot better, but now sice their comin out with 7 its stupid to go vista, especially if ur goin to buy it.

Vista is the best OS microsoft have ever made. There are a couple of problems, but then again, which OS doesn't have them?

The big ones though are that it is a RAM whore. I started using vista with 2GB of RAM with Vista ultimate and on the side bar i put the CPU+RAM monitor, showing the usage of it. When idle it was using 50% of my RAM, thats a gig just for doing nothing!! And that was without aero or dreamscene or any other vista extras or ultimate extras.

The other one is that for fiddly stuff, like changeing the loading screen, it wasn't fiddly on XP or any OS prior to XP, but on vista it's security message after security message, but thats only for the fiddly stuff. For the common stuff like organising files or using the start menu it is brilliant, so much easier than any other OS on the market or any that have been on the market

Personaly i think Vista is crap,i have had both 32 bit and 64 bit and the only reason im sticking with it is because of DX10.

Microsoft better not charge much for windows 7,that should be our compensation from them for Vista that we paid alot of money for.

well, vista is very annoying. it will have a pop up window for everything that you do, like renaming files, running .exe...etc. you can turn those features off. after you get past the annoying part, then comes the compatibility and you-need-to-reformat errors. those things dont happen often but when it does, most likely you would have to reformat. happened to me twice. so if you wana use vista, make sure you backup your data often. the good thing is, vista utilise multiple cores very well. and though it use a lot of RAM even when idle, programs are not slowed down by that.

Yeah Vista before SP1 had a whole chain of problems much like XP did when it first came out.

However it is now a sturdy and dependable OS but I wouldn't buy it now...I would wait end of 09 I believe windows 7 is coming out so it might be wise to wait for it.

The only thing with Vista is you MUST TWEAK IT!!!!! Disabling key features such as super fetch/indexing/uac will make your Vista experience much more enjoyable.

Also disabling unneeded processes etc will improve performance dramatically. Vista has more crap booted up then XP ever did so its important to disable everything unneeded.

Here is a good site for that.

STURDY!!! ... I wouldn't go that far!!
I must admit, It has caused me very little issues only with my bluetooth but that's now been fixed.

I will probably wait a few months after release of win7 before thinking about switching as I have 4 PCs to think about.

As for Win7 pricetag- I think it should be a very hefty discount for current Vista users but not so discounted that it would be worth buying Vista just to get the benefit(if you know what I mean)

Re

Come on ... Vista rocks its the best OS now for now even that people say its not goood i love it ... Windows 7 will be better i know and ill go for it but now Vista its the best..

M$ fixed Vista up pretty good, and while it's stable and works good most of the time, it still has the fundamental problem of being Windows.

At least it doesn't have the fundamental problem of being made by apple or something :P

Just finished selling the last of my apple stuff (my itouch). I'm just so sick of the "this is the way steve jobs likes it so f**k you if you want to personalize it." Picked up a creative zen instead. Woo custom EQ!

I think Vista is great...I have been running it on 2 computers and only had a few minor issues. These issues were caused by me messing with stuff that I should not mess with. I have had Vista Ultimate 64bit on my laptop since the day it was released and never had any issues ever. Runs smooth as silk for 2 years now. On my laptop and desktop it has been really good to me.

Only a few software issues with older programs...that's about it. They do have good advice...I would not buy right now, wait and see what Windows 7 is about.

I had way more problems running XP Pro than I ever have with Vista.

I quite like it, I havn't been tempted to go back to xp.

Vista runs nicely and it hasn't got bogged down like xp does yet.

But I wouldn't switch at this stage what with 7 coming out reasonably soon.

I actually prefer Vista to XP because of the features. I like the new graphics/transparency--it really unifies the desktop. BUT the only problem is that it is slow and takes a while longer to search around for compatible drivers (which now exist).

I think Windows 7 is worth waiting for--it will fix all of Vista's problems
