USB problem, or iPod?

Hi everyone. I've been having some problems with my iPod lately (I've had to restore a couple of times, I get error messages about the HDD having a problem or folders not being found, etc.) and more recently when I plug my iPod into a USB port on my PC, I get a message like "This device will perform better on a 2.0 USB port." Naturally, these ports *are* 2.0, so I'm trying to figure out if the problem is just the iPod (still) or if the ports are broken. I get this on two different motherboard ports (but so far I haven't seen it happen on one of the ports in the front of the case, although maybe I didn't leave it plugged in long enough).

Anyway, is there some way to run a diagnostic on my USB ports and see if they are okay?

Thanks.

Are you having problems with any other USB devices? IF not then it maybe the cable or the IPod itself.

No, not that I can tell. And I tried my iPod on at least 4 different ports, and each had a problem, so I'm sure it's the iPod.
