what antivirus to use?

It is time for my family to buy another anti virus, but which one? There are 5 computers in my house, all are in need of a new antivirus soon. In the past we have used Norton. i dont like norton, i dont think they do that great of a job. I have no other experiences with any other antivirus, so what do you think is best? I have heard Avast! was good, but that is bout the only good one i have heard of recently, with all these bad viruses appearing.
 
Avg and Avira, avg has a smaller virus database but it has a couple that Avira does not. but, I like Avira a lot more especially after having some virus problems and while avg didnt catch anything Avira caught like 5 infections.
 
McAfee is the best hands-down. It's always on sale too. Get the SecurityCenter. You'll never have to worry about your anti-virus or firewall again. :)
 
Everyone here says use AVG Free but if you want just a bit more extra protection which is still FREE use COMODO :)
 
Avast free. I run it on 2 laptops and our family PC and it updates twice daily. I also use this in conjunction with SUPERantispyware which has both a fee and $ version. Between the two we have been well protected.

I've heard good things about Antivir but I have no personal experience.

I would say paid antivirus programs are better .... The one im using BitDefend and i have a thread that im waiting to tell me is it good or bad ok
