Lan recognition error

Hello

I have this Mobo

Code:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=2989

I am having issues with my LAN adapter. My system simply does not recognize it, there is no sign of the lan adapter in device manager or anywhere else.

When I connect two computers via crossover cable the XP computer says the connection is working the Vista computer does nothing (the one with the above stated Mobo).

When I try to install drivers from the official site a note occurs that this adapter is not present in my machine (the one with the above stated Mobo) and the installation terminates.

If I request Vista DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR the system says
Code:
THis computer does not have a network adapter installed and configured

What shall I do with this right now? Thank you for help

Make sure lan adapter is enabled in the bios. If its enabled in the bios and you still can't get it working then just buy a pci network card and install it. Simple fix. Your onboard nic is most likely dead.

Sounds like the ethernet port on your mainboard isn't working. It does happen. I had it happen as recently as yesterday. If you have a warranty for the board, exercise it. If you don't, then go buy an inexpensive ethernet card and stick it in an IDE slot.

He means pci slot  Would have a very hard time trying to get it to fit in an IDE slot

I hope the adapter is not broken. The Mobo is fairly new about 2 weeks. Its really weird that the system does not take in the driver

It is unusual. Certainly not unheard of. Yes I meant, pci not ide. Sorry, forum police.

I checked the BIOS and there was everything enabled already about the LAN so no idea what to do now...
I would prefer to get it working once it is already there instead of buying a new adapter...

Any other ideas what may have gone wrong?

Weird is that the BIOS settings are enabled all and that if I connect two pc together one shows that connection is obtained the other one with the Vista says that no adapter is found in the machine
