Silly vague question regarding installing Windows XP.

Last week, I decided to help my mate install XP on his computer. Whilst it was installing (at around 50%), it went into problems - there were 5 files that it wouldn't install and although it gave us the option to continue without installing them - an error came up at the end.

Unfortunately, we were a bit drunk so I cannot remember the name of the 5 files, but if I remember correctly, they all began with 'S'. If anyone knows what they are, could they let me know so I can research what is wrong with his machine.

Most likely you have bad ram. Thats the first thing you need to check when it can't copy over a file. Another thing to check would be to make sure the cd is not scratched. Use memtest to verify your memory.
