is it possible to mix different makes of gpu's for crossfire?

gainward ati hd 4850 512
asus ati hd 4850 512

just because the gainward card i already have has been sold out at overclockers for months and months and they dont know when they are gonna re-stock them.

they do have the 1024mb version (golden simple) but i dont want to pay the extra to have different specs.

thanx

cool...

but i have a dilema now, the asus gpu for crossfire or a solid state hard drive!!

i have found one that doesnt use the crappy jmicron controller

Yeah, mixing them isn't a problem, if one is faster than the other, it'll downclock the speeds of the slower one.

Screw a SSD, why would you want a massive USB stick in your computer anyway? CF all the way!

I agree. I figure loading doesn't happen that much so an SSD is a waste. Video rendering is always going on though :D

Yeah it'll work fine mine are mixed one sapphire and one visiontek.
SSD drives sound awesome but coming from someone using two 4850's in crossfire-x so like other said screw the SSD you wont be sad.
Ultra High crysis is really that awesome.

i heard ssd's were really fast at booting your computer but once your in they dont really read or write to fast, not more noticable for the price at least

they are not as fast at writing than they are at reading but if they write a little bit faster or even the same as a normal hard drive then thats fine because i would much rather have the read speed!

after all when you think about it, if you install a game you only do it once but how many times will you run the game?

programs load instantly aswell!

well i have already bought the ssd, as i forgot to mention i dont really step outside of the call of duty games yet so my single 4850 is working well for now

but another 4850 will come eventually
