best affordable case

i was wondering what kind of case would be best under $200. it would have to be fairly quiet, as i sometimes leave it on to download while i sleep, and black, as my dvd drive is black. i would prefer no wider than 10 inches(25 cm), so it could stay on my desk like my other case. it would help because i like my video card and cpu as cool as possible even if it is already a safe temperature. i may take the case from my moms work computer anyway, i was just wondering.

I wouldn't call any of those cases "fairly quiet", heck, i'd call them wind tunnels :).

Take a look at the P183, you would not be dissapointed.

Coolermaster Centurion 590.

best case for that price.

The only time the case makes a noise, I when you put side fans (Thats with all cases though, cause the side panel is thin, and cant absord a lot of vibration...)

I have fanse in every slot, except the side panel, and my computer is dead quiet....

What he said. I don't have two top fans though. But I'll soon add another one. Also, I managed to squeeze a single 80mm fan behind the MOBO to help suck out heat.

i have it narrowed down to the antec 300 and coolermaster centurion 590. which should it be? i will consider some of your other suggestions if i can alot more money

You have plenty of budget for an outstanding case and power supply. I have personal experience with the Antec 183. I use one every day. It is very quiet. However, it is also quite large and you were concerned about the size of the case. It is called a mid tower but it could be the largest mid tower I've ever encountered. If you can live with the size, it is outstanding.

I own an Antec 300 as well. It is a lot smaller than the 183 but isn't any quieter than any other case.

my only concern with the coolermaster centurion 590 is that the tool-less design isnt sturdy enough. i read in some reviews that it had trouble holding certain higher end graphics cards because of their size and weight. also, the tool-less hdd/optical drive bays are not sturdy enough. the downsides to the antec 300 are it will not fit my card reader as there is no exposed 3.5 in drive bay and that it isnt very quiet.
