Virgin Media

Im sure most of you all know what Virgin Media is. Im with them at the moment, they are my ISP and TV Service.
Can anyone tell me the Good things about this service and some of the bad things people may have with them?
Is there something i should know about them?
Are they just after my money?
Do they change the monthly bill?

With the internet (it depends which speed you are on), but if you download a certain amount between 2 times (5 and 9 i think) they will 1/2 your speed for 5hrs... for me I can only download up to 500mb between 5 and 9 before they cap my speed.

Overall It is a good service, you get a good solid connection. and your monthly bill shouldnt change without your prior notice...

im on the 20mb broadband service. but their gonna automatically give me 50mb when it comes out in my area (the engineer told me)
 
I am meant to be on the 10MB but my download speed is the same as 2MB and my friend has just upgraded to the 10MB and i am paying more! I'm waiting for my mum to ring up and complain. Another thing is you need to ring and ask for offers because they wont tell you unless you ask.

EASY TIP: Ring up and say your moving to Sky Broadband (Which they don't like) and they cut your bill in half and double your internet connection its happened to quite a lot of people haha.
 
Im with their 50mb service,its good,reliable and they even give me a free Router.

But their customer service is useless,don't get me wrong sometimes ive contacted their customer service ive had a really helpful person, they spoke English,helped me quickly and sorted the problem i had.

But like last week i had a problem and this indian guy answers and i couldn't understand a thing he was saying,then he transferred me to another dept which again another indian and i couldn't understand a thing he said either.

The thing you have to watch out with Virgin media is....they Ring you offering you a deal which you things is really good so you take it up and they upgrade your connection.

only to find a month down the line when you get your bill they have charged you a lot more than they said and when you ring them up asking them what the hells going on they come out with....ohh we don't know who made you that offer but we do not offer that package that cheap.

they sort of try to con you on some things.

Google up the reviews,most of them are bad.

the only reason im staying with VM is because there are bo other lines in our area.

I've been with virgin media or ntl as they were known for quite a while now. Have had a couple of problems over the years- main annoyance like Nevakonaza said is the phone support is really poor when speaking to a foreign department, a lot of the time they don't seem to know what they're on about and you can barely hear what they're saying. But when I've had an engineer come over to sort something out, he was great.

Yeah i think alot of them are un-trained because when i contacted them, they asked for the model of my Modem,which i told them and they said we dont do that modem and i said well its got "Virgin Media" written all over it so you must lol.

and after me explaining its the newest 50mb modem they then found out which one i was talking about but then they they kept passing me on to another person because they didnt have any experience with that particular modem :cool:

It just seems like they have not been trained at all.
 
I rang up today to complain about my connection here are my reviews on todays phone callS!

1, To many Indians not enough English
2, Didnt even help me with my query's and questions
3, They asked me for a password i dont even have to access my account? (That enoyed me)
4, Total of Calls - 6
5, Total of hours on the phone - 3

And i never even got my questions answeared because of some stupid password that doesent even exist!
 
That password your talking about is your passcode,to stop anyone just ringing them up and basicly making out that they are you and making changes to your account without your permission.
They should have asked you to make a password with them when you first sighned up with them?

Yeh they give you that when you get the package (if you're new to virgin broadband), or i think its a account number they give you.
