AOE3 showing internal IP after countless tweaks

Ok, so I tried playing AOE3 with my friends for a couple days now with no success. I have forwarded the necessary ports. Ive installed hamachi and some hamachi client program for AOE3 called aoe3vpn.exe. After following all the directions I still get my internal IP on the AOE3 host screen (192.168......). ANyone able to help me on this topic? Its really starting to tick me off b/c no matter what I do it just wont work. THx.

The IP address you specified is coming from your router. I suspect that you will have to go into the router to ascertain the IP from your ISP. That is the one you want if you are playing over the Internet.

how would I go by doing that?

AOE showing your internal IP shouldn't be a problem. I don't have the game, can you tell me a bit about how the multiplayer works? Does it use a lobby (ie you get a list of games that you can join) or does it ask you to connect to an IP?

Also, if you are trying to use Hamachi you want to look for a LAN game not an internet game.

When I host a game on LAN the IP address AOE3 shows is my internal on the top of the screen. Im supposed to give my buddy my IP so he can connect directly from the IP. We use hamachi in order to LAN. If you choose LAN then a menu comes up with a spot for available LAN games to join or you can key in the hosts IP.

Try renewing your IP from the DOS? Check its the right one, its probably dynamic. Check your cd key is correct.

just a few ideas.

What OS do you use?

If Vista -
Start Menu - Network - Network and sharing center - change(might say manage) adapters - hit the "alt" key, it should bring up the menu - Advanced - Advanced settings - select the hamachi adapter - click the up arrow until it is on top.
Restart the game and hamachi

For Hamachi to work you usually have to move it to a higher priority than your other network connection. Open network connections and go to the advanced menu then pick advanced settings. On the adapters and bindings tab move the Hamachi connection to the top hit ok then reboot and try again. Make sure your friend does this as well.
