Hard Drive Question

Hey guys, my dad's trying to replace the HDD on an Acer Aspire 5315. The HDD it currently has is a Seagate Momentus 5400.4 160GB. Now, we tried to replace the HDD with my dad's Compaq laptop but the hard drive from his Compaq would not fit on the Acer's HDD compartment, the screwholes on the metal flaps of the hdd would not align with the screw sockets on the Acer laptop HDD.

S, I'm guessing, can I just buy any 5400RPM HDD? or does the 5400.4 make a difference?

Thanks

Sounds like this is current equipment with SATA interface. If so, then all the drives are identical in size, regardless of manufacturer. What you are experiencing is differences in the brackets that the notebook manufacturer uses to mount the drives in the case. Just remove the mounting hardware from the drive and put it on the new drive.
