i have a 160 gb hard drive and it was getting a bit full. what is a good 160 gb hard drive to use as a slave with it. SATA please.

SATA isn't configured that way. IDE provided for the connection of two drives to one interface. The drives were jumpered to become "master" or "slave." SATA drives don't work that way. You plug each SATA drive into its own connector the main board. You can use any drive you like. I would recommend getting something bigger so you won't run into the problem again. The 500 GB drives are very cheap and very reliable.

so i can just plug both in and they work?
and if so i will only get another 160gb, because i wasn't actually at the problem, just expecting it

Yes, that's how they work. Get a larger drive. You're talking about $15 or $20 more.
