Overclocking: is it safe?

Hello,

I overclocked my EVGA 9800 GT using EVGA precision tool from 600MHZ to 700 MHZ. Heat is not an issue in this case because i have enough fans to keep the card running at 43 degrees celcius on standby and 60 when under a load. Are there any other significant dangers to overclocking?

well i think as long as the heat is not an issue, you'll be fine

If you overclock too high I think you may need to increase the voltage to keep it running stable. As long as your games don't crash, there shouldn't be a problem. My 8800GT is factory overclocked to those same speeds. I brought it up to 740MHz with the shaders overclocked 200MHz and Crysis would periodically crash so I had to bring it back down. Games like BF2 are also sensitive to heat so I had to bring the card back down to factory settings.
