something? help appreciated.
btw here is the 8800gts i was looking at=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130401
im really trying to save money, as i have somethings going on.

Are you considering the possibility of selling your 8800GTS? I would list your card on ebay and if you make a sell, go for a GTX 260. I've seen the GTS go on Ebay for around $100, meaning an upgrade to a GTX 260 would only cost you about $60.

Is it a 320MB/640MB or a 512MB?

wouldn't a 260 bottleneck his e6300 though???

If getting another 8800 is cheaper than buying a GTX260, I'd do that. Not biased, honest!

They give amazing performance in SLI, really letting you crank the res and AA up! Just as an idea, I run all my game @ 1920 x 1200 with at least 4x AA and I don't get below 60 FPS.

You mean the other way around?

The E6300 is going to bottleneck the 260?

Probably not though, since his is clocked at 3.1

soz for going a bit off topic here: but how can the cpu bottleneck the gpu? i thought it would be like what i said?

Because gpu's are alot faster than cpu's, think about it this way, if you put a gtx 295 in a rig with a 600mhz Pentium III(you cant cuz they dont have pci-e back then, but just play along lol), or a gtx 260 in a rid with a core 2 duo @ 4Ghz, which will run the game faster, the one with the better cpu. OF course there are ways that this can not hold true, but overall your cpu bottlenecks your gpu more than gpu bottlenecks cpu.

While a pair of 8800GTS's will out perform the 260 in many games, there are a large amount of games out there that don't utilize SLI, or at least get the full use from it, in which case the 260 would be the better choice. Another thing to consider is power consumption and heat production. While your PSU should have enough juice to run the two cards, I've heard some hit and miss reports from Rosewill psus. Not really concrete against it, but ou might might want to consider this beforehand. Also, two cards can crank out a good deal of heat, especially since they are usually immediately next to each other, ventilation suffers. I personally prefer a single, powerful GPU set up, due only to simplicity, but do what you feel would be a better choice for you.

I'm pretty sure even if the games aren't made to play with SLi in mind, it'll still be a lot faster than the 260. Hell, even the 9600GT in SLi on benchmarks are on par with the GTX 260.

fair enough, thanks for the info :)

you cant sli an 8800gts with a 9800gtx...they have be matching gpus.

i would go with sli 8800gts over 1 single 9800gtx.

what ever happened to the cross card drivers???
from what i read, it turned the second gpu in to a physics card

anyway ill just go with the 8800gts :D thx for the help
