I'm trying to install windows XP over windows Vista. But whenever I open the windows xp cd, my windows vista 64 ultimate won't let me install xp. Does anyone have clear directions on how to do this? I googled it, but it skipped steps on partioning. Thanks.

You should dual boot don't just install XP and delete Vista.

Might I ask why you want to get rid of Vista?

If you want to totally get rid of vista, you better make sure you have all the XP drivers for your hardware. And you can't install XP within windows Vista, you must boot to the xp cd and delete existing partition, repartition and then install xp.
