***HELP*** ATI 4850x2 No Display!!?? :(

Hello, I ordered all my parts for my brand new rig. However, when I power it up, there is no display from my video card!? I tried my GeForce 7600 in the machine and it works fine! My mobo recognizes all my other parts so I was not sure what to do. I sent it back to newegg and requested a new video card, claiming that mine was DoA. However, this new 4850x2 is doing the same thing!! What can this be :(:(:(

Any ideas out there, anything would be helpful :confused::confused:

New Comp:
ATI 4850x2
Intel Core i7 920
Corsair 750Watt power supply
x3 Corsair Dominator 2GB Triple Channel RAM
Intel DX58SO MoBo
 
Did you plug in the required power cables from the PSU? If this is the case, the 7600 would have worked because it doesn't require power cables.
 
That's a good point there. If what kookoo said doesn't work try doing what I said to do in the other thread that you put up about this issue.
 
It's the 6 pin you need to look for.

750W should be more than enough to power that. Did you install the drivers correctly? Seeing that the ATi card didn't work but the NVidia card did? Did you correctly uninstall the NVidia drivers?
 
I have not actually installed any drivers for any of my components, including the Geforce. I only used it to enter the BIOS. However, I was unable to continue further due to my BlueScreen I got while installing windows due to my bad HDD.

The thing is I just can't even get a display out of this damn thing, otherwise I would be able to figure out much more.
 
Is this your first bootup? If so, I would uninstall the 4850x2 and reset the BIOS if you have onboard video. If not, see if you can diagnose the HDD problem with the 7600. You can't diagnose anything if you can't use the computer so see what you can do with the 7600 for now.

He has a Corsair. That's pretty much enough said. He can even stick in a GTX 295 if he wanted with that PSU.

I don't think he has an onboard, he did say it's a X58 mobo.
 
I know intel man. I knew that 750W was enough but I couldn't figure out why his comp was failing so I was wondering if the psu could have been a problem.
 
When i first got my 4850 X2 i didnt not see anything on the display either. The reason was because i only had one 6 pin in, instead of both of them.

I have a 750 watt psu also.

mine is fine now though.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, I'm more than happy to start a new one if needs be but I have the same card and the same problem.

Originally ACER Espire E700's motherboard, although I've put it into a new case today.
Intel Q6600 Quad Core
4GB Ram
ATI HD 4850 X2
New 850W PSU (I forget the make but it's branded)

Now I can get display out of the old ATI Radeon X1650 card fine, have made sure I have uninstalled the catalyst drivers (Not sure I needed to, but have tried with and without), I have plugged in both the 6-pin and the 8-pin power connectors, and I get a green LED on the back of the card and one of the two fans will spin, but I get no display.

Have re-seated the card and double/triple checked the power connections, I'm under the impression from the manual that it requires both power leads.

Anyone know what I am missing here?

Apologies for the bump, but coming in with a clear head is it something I need to change in the BIOS?

had the exact same problem, and for me at least it was related to power supply issues. not that my 700 wasnt enough, i just had to juggle around what was running and drawing power from where. i think this was because i'm using a psu other than what's made for the card. i had to use the adapters to the 4-pin style connecters as the psu's six and 8 pins werent compatible. even having a fan on the same cable as the 4850x2 caused it to not work right.

i'd suggest the BEST fix is to check the manufacturer's site as to the recommended psu's and get one of them...
"650 Watt or greater power supply with one 2x3-pin PCIeR power connector and one 2x4-pin PCIeR power connector is required "
is what the sapphiretech site says, but i do remember seeing a list of compatible brands etc somewhere... just cant find it now to link it for you, sorry.

if, like me, you've blown the budget already and cant justify getting a new psu you're gonna have to just juggle what's running off your current psu until its working right. tho i would highly recommend looking at updating psu as while i got my card working perfectly, last night the same issue started again. turned on the pc, fans all spinning flat out, no display. yet to open it up and see whats going on (checking these forums for similar problems first) i'm betting its another psu issue. (mine is a GreatWall GW700SEL 700 WATT TRUE POWER SUPPLY)
