Vista and WirelessG(Crap?)

So i have vista and and wirelessG card(on my desktop). The card is a IEEE 802.11g Turbo Mode Edimax. The problem is every couple of minutes or so i get a random spike. The best example is Counter Strike Source. Ill be playing just fine and then every thing will freeze for a few seconds then ill zoom in what ever direction i am holding the keys in. Happens on wow too, but its not as big of a deal. On my old PC(XP SP2(or 3 i cant remember)) I also used a simmilar wireless card and that never happened to me.

I have heard that WirelessG and Vista dont work well, ive also been told it was because my drivers were out of date(ruled that out by uninstalling, downloading and installing the new ones). If any one could shed some light on this situation or provide a solution that would be awesome!

The Doctor...

When I had a linksys USB adapter I would get those spikes in css and wow. I replaced it with a netgear PCI card and I no longer get the lag in css but
I still get it in wow. I think some brands/drivers just work better with vista than others.

Is Edimax the brand name? If so, try to get a hold of a D-Link or Netgear card and see what happens. Also, if you EVER get the inclination to purchase a USB wireless or wired adapter, slap yourself in the face :P. USB isn't designed to handle a continuous stream of data like an internet connection and is part, if not most of the reason why you have hangs/pauses and disconnections.

vista wireless management is so crap!
as soon as i wanted to connect to my wireless network on one of my computers (with vista installed), it would take a long time to connect. And a few days later it all corrupted so i ended up installing Windows XP back onto it and NOW everything is running SO smoothly like it should.

Where did you hear this? The wireless-G spec will work fine with Vista. It has no effect what OS you are running as to which wireless mode you can use.

What is the exact model of both your wireless card? It may also have an issue with your current PC (driver or hardware conflicts). The other thing to consider is that the radio on your card may be dying and intermittently dropping signal.

Do you have another card you can try?

Huh? USB is designed for and can handle continuous data streams. If it couldn't you would have problems using hard drives, audio interfaces, video interfaces, etc... An internet connection is small potatoes compared to these applications. ;)
