No beeps, No video

Just put my first build together but it wont boot!:(

Ive tried going down to 1 stick of memory, taken the battery out for a few seconds and changed the jumper settings but still no beeps!

Is my motherboard dead?

Does anything happen when you turn it on? If not then make sure your PSU is turned on (switch on the back), recheck all cables. It is much more common to forget to plug something in than for hardware to be DOA.

Yeah all my system and cooler fans start so im guessing that rules out any problem with the psu? 500w should be plenty

Try re-seating the power connector from the PSU to the mobo as the direct next thing that would happen after the PSU turns on is that you would get a beep from the mobo whether your components were properly connected or not. If you get no beep after that, then the motherboard is getting no power from the PSU and something's wrong with one or the other (the power connector may be bad faulty as well, although also very unlikely...)

If you've got a spare computer laying around that you know works, try powering it up with the new PSU. If it doesn't turn on, then it's the PSU, if it does, then there's something faulty with the motherboard.

Thanks for the advice, Ive tried re resetting the connections. My motherboard has a onboard power led, which lights up when i try and power on so the motherboard must be getting power right?

I'll try the psu in my old system for now so i can eliminate that.

The first step in troubleshooting is to reduce the system to the basics and then add things one at a time until you find the faulty component. To boot you need a mainboard, a processor, some memory, a power supply and a monitor connected to the on-board video. Go strip it down to that and see if that will boot first.

Ok thanks, I dont have much else atm but i'll try removing the harddrive

Do you have another computer that will take the RAM? I'd try the RAM in another machine before jumping to a mobo issue. Where did you get your parts from?
