Buying A Laptop - What's Better For Me: Intel Or AMD?

I am planning to buy an HP Pavillion dv3z laptop.

I notice that the dv3z has AMD, and the dv4, dv6, and dv7 has intel.

The purpose of me using a laptop is MAINLY for university work (documents, projects, notes, etc.). I will also be using it for audios and video a few hours a week (not too long).

Either manufacturer will do what you need just fine, although what I'd do is take the specs available from HP's page and see what the power usage is on the parts, especially the processor. A lower wattage processor will allow you to use that laptop longer on the battery. However, from a performance standpoint, you will be fine with either as long as you aren't doing heavy gaming or graphical editing.
