My computer

The second one is a revamped version of the first one. The first one probably will drop significantly in price here shortly, but for right now, yes the $5 difference is definitely worth spending for the GTS 250.

Hey guys. I'm really excited. Someone on CF wants to sell me, which seems like, a really great deal.
It's evga nforce 790i ultra sli mobo with 8GB of RAM (g.skill ddr3 1333) for 180! Sound good?
He also mentioned that the mobo doesn't come with drives..? But he said he'll include the sound and something else CDs to install on there...
Because I'm new, I don't know if i should be dealing with personal sales because I still don't know how to judge for myself if it is good and everything.
The mobo on newegg is around 200 bucks...and the RAM is around 80...so price wise I think it's a great deal.
Is there any questions I should ask? And are there any complications with buying a use motherboard and/or RAM?

that sounds like an AWESOME deal you should really buy it!!!! whoever is selling you that stuff is such a great guy :D:D

and the ram is $140 on newegg

There are socket LGA 775 motherboards that use DDR3 memory? I didn't know that. Make sure a Q6700 processor will work with the motherboard you are looking at.

Didn't read much of the thread, but both the 9600GT and 9800GT are more than enough for sims 3 and are pretty decently priced. The 9600GT is probably better for you, but then you could get this 9800GT with free COD4 and 5.

Oh yeaaaaah...I dont think it does!! :( my processor is Core 2 Quad.
and it says its compatible with quadcore/core 2/pentium/core extreme does this mean it is or it isn't?

That is a great deal you are getting there. Definitely worth the money. It is compatible for sure and will last for a long time as it's a highend motherboard. Plus all that ram you will never need anything more than that. Your system will have the potential to rival many systems on these forums. All the money you are saving here you might as well get a nice video card to match the rest of your system.

Wow thanks so much. Your input is greatly appreciated :)
I do plan on getting a nice video card. Thats what this thread was talking about earlier. Which video card do you think is really nice?

Alright, I looked at my other threads, and I don't really wanna use one of those to add on to. This thread is going to be for my many questions while I buy hardware and build my computer.

So far I've bought my processor (Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66 GHz--216 w/tax)

My question right now is what video card shoud I get? I will be playing Sims 3 as some of you already know...so it has to be compatible.
Thanks :)

what happened to eeh q6600?

speaking of houses, i live in a 3 bedroom house by myself lol!!

i think i have problems:eek:

no, no! you need a different bed room for each week. you gotta alternate them!

Sounds almost to good to be tue! Make sure he sends you pics first, and ask him for a heatware account.

So I'm back and I'm starting my list of components to see how much I need to save up for. His offer still stands but I asked him if his price offer is still the same. Would it still be a good deal now that the mobo is priced at 175 on newegg but I also get 8gb of ram?
& I'm getting nervous. I'm starting to doubt myself. I was reading reviews on certain items and when I read one about a mobo they were talking about complications with installing an OS and how they handled it...this is not going to be easy for me. I'm trying to learn as much as I can, but I'm afraid that's not going to be enough :(
I really still want to build a computer, I really really do...I just hope I do everything right.

EDIT:It changed to $150 :D good?
