Wireless goes out when Microwave is turned on

I have a wireless G network setup in my house. Everything works fine until someone in the house turns on the micowave! Every wireless device in the house then loses network connectivity.

Any suggestions to get around this besides running a cable? Will wireless N be any different?

Go into the router setup and change the wireless channel until the microwave doesn't interfere with it.

Your post brought back memories for me. Yes change the channel of your wireless router. Channel 6 on wireless G is almost exactly the same frequency microwaves run on. Channel 1 seemed to work best for me.

George Foreman won't disrespect the wifi!

ok srsly, I know there are 11 channels in total, 1, 6, and 11 are the most common I believe so try one of them.

If your microwave has that much interference chances are there's a decent amount of leakage going on... Probably time to get a new microwave.

They operate at the same frequency, it's the leakage that's causing all the interference.

We actually replaced our microwave a few weeks ago and it has done this to my wireless with each microwave. (old one gave out after many years of use)

I changed it to channel 1, had it on channel 6. I'll let yall know how it goes when I get a chance to test it.

Update: looks like changing it to channel 1 did the trick. My wireless doesn't drop in signal anymore when the microwave is turned on.
