Vista 64bit & ACAD 2004

Hi guys, does any know why ACAD 2004 will not run on Vista 64. I just bought an new PC with vista 64 and must say that I am disappointed by how much of my old software will not run on this OS.

Any comments will be welcome

Vista can run only AutoCad 2008 and up , compatibility issued. It's really sucked to use Vista just use your Window XP much better than Vista. Or if you have another hard drive connected in your computer install Window XP in it just ask the forum how to install it ,not very familiar installing both OS but I know how to install Linux within Window XP and you can install your Acad 2004.

It could be that the software is 32bit and Vista doesn't have a 32bit emulator.

Also, you do not need 2 hard drives to install a second OS.

You just need a partition.

I thought Vista had an option to run a program with 32-bit compatibility? Not sure on that one though. Either way, make sure you've got your Vista upgraded to Service Pack 1. Window's took a shot at fixing some of the program compatibility issues so that may help.

Your best bet is to contact support for AutoCAD. I would also try right clicking the program and run the program as administrator under XP sp2. See if it will run under these circumstances. If not contact support and look for a fix.

I also have ACAD 2009 and it will not install at all.....message says something like "this program is not compatible with this OS". The 2004 version will install but will not run.

Have you tried running it under Windows XP SP2 mode in Vista?
