Lol I meant why choose the 810 over the 940? I'm sorry I am a lazy college student who doesn't complete sentences...

Here are a few of my thoughts when I read your post...

When you said that you would like an AMD Quad Core with a Nvidia 780a Northbridge chipset, you will severly limit yourself to motherboard selection. With that combo you can only get maybe a dozen or so motherboards and the price is high for what you get. I would recommend an AMD 790 series northbridge chipset. That would open up many more options and a greater price range to work with.

Here are the motherboards with Nvidia 780a northbridge chipset that are compatible with an AMD Quad Core.

If you choose an AMD northbridge chipset you can get a great motherboard for less than $150. Here is a popular one from Asus...it is the exact same board my brother-in-law runs and he loves it.

As far as the processor goes...I would recommend a Phenom II series. You'll be much better off and much more pleased with one of these. The 3.0GHz Phenom II 940 would be a great processor for you...and it's reasonably priced.

The graphics cards you picked, GTX 285 will be a complete overkill. You will be spending almost $800 just in graphics cards:( I run a single GTX 260 and I have not had a game yet that I can not max all settings and it plays smooth as silk. A single GTX 285 will be plenty for what you will need, it will work just fine. Put that money somewhere else. That will leave you room for the sound card and network card. I can almost garuntee you with dual GTX 285, sound card and network card...they will not all fit on your motherboard! If you run dual GTX 285s...the sound card and network card have to go!

A network card does increase performnace slightly...it just makes sure that information packets from a game have priority over other system information packets. Will you see a noticable difference in everyday gaming?...probly not. It is a lot of money to spend for such a slight performance increase.

Under 2k. I don't want to overkill this thing too bad, but I want a fast computer. My budget is 2k but I wouldn't mind saving some of it...

Nice computer, but I really wanted to build a computer with advice, and with parts I really wanted to put into it, ya know?

Great looking setup though!

...Can anyone recommend a certain mobo? The one ScOuT posted doesn't have the best customer reviews which scares me slightly to use it.

Also, with a mobo chosen, would anyone be able to recommend a PSU? My computer is almost complete...

I have no idea what you just said.

You said your budget was $2000.00

If I had that budget, I would build my computer, I wouldn't get an AMD system.

That's just me.

But I am building an AMD computer lol. My budget is 2k, but I don't want to spend all of that. I'm trying to state that I want a very fast, effective gaming computer, but I also don't want to overkill it (I play CS1.6, WoW, and BF2 most often). My current computer handles those games, but I would like to build a new one as a hobby.

What I meant in my other post was I don't want to look at another users computer and copy it's hardware verbatim. I'd like to have my own build that was constructed mainly through what I ahve researched, but with the advice of more experienced users.

Building the AMD will be cheaper and maybe not quite AS fast, but still plenty fast for what I will be doing with it.

So... can anyone refer a different mobo than scout has? Also, a PSU?

Looks like it, yes.

If you go DDR2 you can significantly decrease your spending.

I am quite sure I am getting 6GB of DDR3, I just haven't picked a company yet...

So, anything left besides optical drives/thermal display (I will pick those out)?

What compounds and tools will I need for installation (willing to buy a rubber mat or whatever else)? I want all rounded cables, can anyone recommend a quality company?

List updated, almost ready to begin ordering....
