PCIE and PCIE 2

No worries. You will be fine. Most of the graphics cards out now with the PCI-E 2.0 spec don't even fully utilize the extra bandwidth and features yet anyway.
 
Just to add to the others posts...it will be fine. I run a GTX 260 on a Asus P5N-E motherboard with a PCI-E 1.0 slot with no issues. It actually performs very well.
 
It may work on PCIe 1.0 however it very well may not. Before purchasing an expensive gpu, i would check and make sure you are ready to take that risk if you have a 1.0 slot. Many have failed.

The PCIe 2.0 spec is backwards compatible by definition. A PCIe 2.0 device can operate at either the 2.0 5GT/s (giga-transaction) or the 1/1.1 spec 2.5GT/s rate. All PCIe 2.0 GPUs designed for the max 5GT/s rate must also support the slower signalling rate of the prior 1/1.1 spec.

As far as I know your slot will run a PCIe 2.0 card. There was a few boards by, I think PCchips and Asrock with VIA chipsets that had a hell of a time with PCIe 2.0 cards. But I think most were fixed with a bios update. Just because they are standards dont mean all manufactures implement them.
