DVD drive dying?

I have been getting read errors when trying to install games. I checked the disk, and its clean, but I still keep on getting errors. My brothers computer has no problem installing the game. Could my DVD drive be heading for the grave?
 
Yes everytime my dvd drive starts acting up I put the drive cleaning disk in and it works perfectly.

Elimin8or, I take it your the brother he mentioned?
 
Well, I tried the cleaning the disk thingy, but it did not work. My bro put his DVD drive in my computer, and voila, the game installed without a hitch.


sniff...sniff:(, I'm gonna miss my trusty old drive...had it for over 4 years now...an HP supermulti DVD-RW...burned so many DVD's and CD's...sniff...bye bye DVD drive...






for those of u who take life to seriously, im just kidding.:P
 
I have never had a Dvd drive that lasted for over 2 years. I just got a new one recently to replace my last one which lasted for around 18 months.

Sorry to hear the other one is dead. The good news is that a new drive is pretty inexpensive. Or, you can try sweet talking your brother into letting you keep his...;)
 
Maybe swap the dvd drives and let your brother post on here when he realises that his dvd drive has mysteriously stopped working while your one has started again :)
