How fast does technology change?

I haven't heard of a release date, I just know that they plan on releasing 8-core versions of the i7.

OK. I vaguely remember hearing/reading something about 2nd half 2010/2011 starting with the 32nm 6-core "Gulftown" series. Intel tends to be fairly close-mouthed or vague about these things.

Would it have hyperthreading? Just imagine that:D

Yes, they do. Intel likes to refer to their new lineups by Core/Thread count. For instance the new Gulftown units I was referring to are the 6C/12T units (6-core/12-thread). You could technically think of them as twelve virtual cores. Keep in mind that the i7 architecture is also much different from the prior multi-core architectures they had. The i7 line is one massive die with four interconnected cores, not just two dual core dies mashed together in one package.
