Internet Connection Error

I can't connect to the internet on a new computer. Although I have already set up a network for other computers, when I plug the router into the new computer and go the Setup Wizard, it says that I need some recommended hardware?

Any Ideas?

Cannot Complete the Netowk Setup Wizard

The wizard cannot find your network hardware.

Before using this wizard, you must first install and configure your network cards, modems, cables, and device drivers.

For help installing your hardware, see hardware requirements overview in Help and Support Center. Then, when youare finished installing your network hardware, run this wizard again.

The hardware requirements overview page basically says the same thing, nothing real useful. My ethernet is hooked from my working router to the port on the back panel of the motherboard.

The OS license type will not have affect your networking abilities. It sounds like you do not have the drivers installed for your computer yet. Go to the manufacturer's website on another computer to download the appropriate drivers, burn them to a CD or put the files on a flash drive or external hard drive and then install them on this machine.

Yes, the chipset drivers for your entire system. If this is a fresh install of Windows you will need to install all the drivers for your components (or at least for the ones that Windows hasn't found drivers for already).

What make/model of computer is this? I may be able to direct you further.

Ah, weak.

Computer is custom built. I ran dxdiag and found that it didn't recognize a video card, so I'll get some drivers for that. Aside from that, what other drivers would I need?

It sounds like you will need to get drivers for your Network Card or Wireless Card. Right Click My Computer, System Properties, Hardware, Device Manager... Please make a list of all deices that are unknown or have a yellow ! near them. This will help us out.

:) I understand. Just go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and grab all the most recent chipset drivers (sound, LAN, NB/SB, etc...). Post the make/model of your motherboard and video card and we can point you in the right direction.
