Just bought my new nvidia 9800gt 1gb, Im a noob when it comes to building computers as this is my first if anyone couold look over my system spec and see if the powersupply is good enough to handle the computer and the graphics card if i use the GC to its full potential .

Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz

Memory:
2048MB RAM

Hard Drive:
250 GB

Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

And running 800W power supply unit

I class this as low budget as i dont have alot of money can someone also tell me what they think of the system please
Thanks to whoever takes there time to help me

The 800W PSU will easily be able to handle your system, including the GPU. No worries there. The CPU may be your bottleneck at lower resolutions. What resolution do you normally play at?

no to hot on that but i do believe it is 1280 by 1024 the only reason i worry about this is i did have a 550Watt PSU before played crysis on high with this system and the PSU went pop lol the only game i really have a problem is with my cpu is gta 4

Yes, GTA 4 is much more CPU intensive than most games. It was originally coded for multi-core consoles after all. :)

Crysis on the other hand will stress the card more than the CPU. You will see an increase if you were to upgrade your CPU, but you should be fine with what you have. I went from a 4000+ (I think...) to a 6400+ on one of my machines a while back - also with a 9800GT - and I noticed a marked increase in frame rate.

aslong as the psu isnt going to go pop while playing crysis all settings on max

for the record it runs as smooth as anything all maxed out on crysis

It shouldn't. It sounds like your old 550W unit was dying anyway if it could not power your system properly.

The 9800GT is no slouch. :)

You are welcome. :):good:

As for things blowing up while playing Crysis, hopefully that kind of action will stay on the screen. ;)

lol i hear that lol thanks alot mate take care

you seem to have been better help than the novatech team were i ordered the parts from

so **** going to them for advice again
computerforum.com FTW!

For what it's worth...

I am running a GeForce 9800GTX+ w/ a 500W PSU and resolution maxxed out. I also Have a Phenom II 920 & 8GB RAM though, so they help with the load. My point is that the whole load falls on the 500W PSU with no failures. My CPU runs 36C, MOBO 32C & VC 40C. ;)

What exact PSU is that? Wattage means very little.

For quality of the PSU I agree that wattage is no indication. For being able to power a system properly, it means quite a bit.

Any decent 800W PSU should handle this system fine. Even a scrappy PSU that can output 800W should be fine...but it may have other problems. ;)
