heat is only an issue if the computer when it is idling, which is not going to happen.

no real gpu has heat issues in the last few years if you manually work the fan to 60% or so...

to the gtx285, its a great gpu but after shipping and tax (we should always assume that those are parts of a budget too, dont you think?) its way overbudget.

instead, i suggest getting either a GTX 275, or an ATI 4890, with the GTX 275 being the best recommendation.

hi thanks for all the suggestion.. im really appreciated it, ill try to check the stock with my local store tomorrow.

Best performance for that amount would be a pair of crossfired 4870s for $340 or $310 with rebates, though you’d have additional power and cooling considerations.

hey thanks for your recommendation, i was thinking to get 1gb sapphire 4890, do u have recommendation the minimum watt for the power? I'll be most likely to use q9400/9550 (depend on budget) + Asus P5Q pro/duluxe (anyone know whats the diff between 2?), 1Tb, 4gb ram.

+1, this set up would beat the 4890, if power and heat is not a problem, that is

I don’t know about the minimum. I’d probably go with at least 750W to be sure of plenty of power for a pair of cards. Or go with a single 4890 and have the option to add another in the future, if you decide that you need it. Personally I doubt there’s enough difference in performance between the 4870 and the 4890 to justify the cost. The 4850 X 2 (single card) is slightly more than the 4890 with better benchmarks and value. And a pair of 4870’s would be the best performance for the money, though more cost than the other ATI options, but still less than the 285.
