i'm getting ready to take the dive into i7 soon, the added benefit of i7 processors is just too much to pass up. the bulk of my usage will be based around Audio Recording, Video Editing, Web Page layout, and Graphic Design. i don't play games like i used to, only occasionally picking up a new title if it really catches my eye... so it doesn't warrant me building my system to gaming specifications. therefore i'll be continuing the life of my 9600GT for now, as it's plenty powerful enough for any Video Editing and Graphic design i might do.
anyway here's what i was thinkin:

looks like a great processor at a reasonable price. if i ever need more i could always upgrade to one of the faster ones, but as of right now i'm not looking to break the bank on one component alone

my current build was the first time i had used a Gigabyte board... needless to say i was really impressed. i originally started using ASUS during the P2-P3 era and loved their boards. when P4s came out i heard raving reviews about Abit and decided to give them a shot... it was one of the worst experiences i've ever had with a motherboard company. when i finally got a Core2Duo i thinkin about going back to ASUS but wanted to try something new, and i've been really happy with Gigabyte so far. i'm open to trying ASUS, eVGA, or XFXi guess too.

last i started using G.Skill on my new build and i've been happy ever since. ram seems well made and very reasonably priced. i used to be a Corsair man, but the TwinX i had with my P4 setup was a real let down, so i decided to try someone else.
anyway just let me know what you think, all input is welcome. cheers
