Hello, Ive been thinking recently of upgrading my 17" monitor to a 22". I game a bit but also use my pc for watching movies and tv. Eventually I would like to install a Blu Ray drive, therefore influencing my decision to get a HD (1920 *1080) monitor. I have a 8800 Gts which has 2 DVI ports and i have a VGA adapter. My question is, would I receive the benefits of Hd with the hardware i own? The two monitos im looking at are the

Fujitsu Siemens AMILO L 3220T (2 * hdmi and vga )

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154817

and the Asus VH222H ( hdmi, vga and dvi )

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-VH222H...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1240880246&sr=8-1

With one of these monitors would will display hd when i do get a blu ray drive? Im confused also as to what hdcp is and to whether this matters?

Any other suggestions for a monitor would be gladly accepted too!

The ASUS display will work fine. It also supports HDCP whereas the Fujitsu display only has a VGA input (from what I can tell - very odd).

HDCP does matter. It stands for Hardware Digital Copy Protection. Without it you will not be able to watch BluRay movies in full high definition - if at all in some cases. You will need an HDCP compatible monitor AND video card. As I said, the ASUS model will work. Your 8800GTS should support HDCP on the DVI ports as well.

Thanks for the reply mate, took me a while to see that the asus one was hdcp compliant. In the end ive ordered the asus vh242h, the same as the asus one shown just 23.6" insteas of 21.4". Looking forward to watching and playing in HD!
