Phonem II 955 3.2ghz AM3

It looks like a great chip from amd, i wounldn't mind upgrading to this in the near future:)

I was also suprised on how well it did vs. the i7's in gaming, it was basically neck to neck.

Wouldnt this make it worse?

Yes, that's why I was asking if this was a brand new product.

Searching through the Newegg inventory - it appears they upgraded the processor with the 6 MB L3 Cache - and got rid of the 4MB models - and upped the price.

The former highend was the 940 - an AM2+ chip, no DDR3 controller, and 6mb cache. The 810 / 820 however were both AM3 chips, but only 4mb to cut down on TDP and price.

It is a very sexy cpu which i would want to upgrade to if i had the immediate need for it at it's current price. Price for performance is great.

From few benchmark I saw. It compete with Q9550...
But I just wonder if it is worth the extra money from 940 if upgrade. While for new build with DDR3, I guess it would be better to get i7??

Ok just one last check...

The Am3 socket is basically the same as Am2 right? So a Coolmaster V8 HSF will be able to connect to this chip right?

Ill order the V8 tonight if yes lol.
