Upgrade from 32-bit XP to 64-bit Vista

Hey all,

I have legit copies of windows xp home and a vista business upgrade (both 32-bit). I ordered from Microsoft last week for $9.99 a 64-bit windows vista disk through their website.

My desktop was running Vista Business 32-bit yesterday just fine. I got the 64 bit disk in the mail, put it in the drive, and of course this didn't work because of the 32/64 bit incompatiability. I then tried a fresh install with the same 64 bit disk, but that didn't work because the product key i have is for the upgrade, not a full install.

Bascially what I'm asking is if there is any way I can install 64 bit Vista using a full 64 bit disk that has no product key of its own, a Windows XP Home disk and product key, and a Windows Vista Business 32 bit upgrade with a product key? Is there some recipe for success that I don't know?

Thanks!

Yes.

Install like you normally would, your 64bit OS, but leave out the CD key.

It should ask you which version you would like to try, select the version
you purchased.

Once you have it installed, as a trial, then put the disc back in and upgrade
and enter your key as normal.

Thanks so much. That did it!
