Hey my comp always gets the blue screen error saying hardware malfunction call vendor for support.

I have one file on my desktop "windows.old" and i cant delete it no matter what a try it says its not located there even though i can see it.

In the subfolder theres a hidden file that i enabled so i can see it and it says "ЃϵϳЅЂϿϽϯІχϯπρϴϱЄϱЃϵϳЅ " Now to me that does not look like a normal file name. I cannot delete it wether i use emco move on boot or any removal program.

I think it might be a virus anyone help? I will do a hijackthis report if neccasary

Or if anyone knows how i can remove the windows.old folder that would help too

Well people do use this forum. and if u ask the right question, u will get right answer.

well as above stated, only an antivirus can tell whether u have a virus, not the users.

It is most probably due to invalid registry address. Use ccleaner or something like that to fix registry errors. after that try deleting that file.

I've moved this thread to the computer security section. Follow the steps in this thread; post the requested logs in your next reply.

After you try what sshaggy has said, try and do a system restore. If that doesn't work, try and repair windows with the windows cd.

^ umm, thanks for the "help" haha

any experienced members that can help.

I am very experiences with computers. I own a repair business and run multiple websites. But no worries... in my experience, the first thing to do when you suspect a virus, and nothing else makes sense, is to run a scan.
