computer crash

i am helping my brother fix his computer. it is an acer aspire one (that miget computer) well any way the microsoft windows xp screen shows up the one with the bar goin from right to left then this blue screen shows up and its just a flash. not long enough to read it. the the computer reboots on itself. he is leavin tomorrow (5/2/09) so plz help as soon as possible

A few things you can try:

• Try booting into safe mode.
• Check the RAM. Swap it out with a stick from another laptop if you have one. Bad RAM can cause a blue screen.
• Try booting from a Windows CD, and running chkdsk
• If you can't boot up Windows but you can boot from a CD then you might need to reinstall windows.
