Is 2048MBx1 or 1024x2 better?????

I have to get a new computer because mine shuts off rather a lot, especially now that the weather is getting warmer...

I have seen the two different kinds a memory a few times and wonder what the difference is, I mean, they each have the same total, right?

Which is better, do you think?

Bother, I wrote the title wrong. It was supposed to be 2048MBx1 or 1024MBx2....

If your current computer keeps shutting down due to the warm weather, you have cooling problems and you should probably get that fixed. Run some temp programs (everest, realtemp) and see what temps you get.
But for memory, depends on what motherboard you have, and how many slots you have left. Some, if not all, motherboards have dual channel ram support, where you should install ram in pairs.
What is your current computer specs? Or model of your computer?

Right, cooling problem. Thing is I have some brain injury and I need my computer to remind me to do things or everything falls apart.

So, I'm going to get a new one.

My present computer is a Toshiba Satillite M45-S359, and it's been great.

I'm going to get another Toshiba, and right this minute they have 25% off, so I'll be able to get everything I want for less than I paid for the computer I'm using now...

In "building" my computer I'm supposed to choose the memory option I want.. and the two I mention above are free, I think they are free.

I'm right at the very edge of my budget...

And Toshiba is having a 25% off sale?!?!!??!?!?!
Well, personally, I'd go with the 1x 2048mb just because you can upgrade it with another stick if you need to later down the road.

But, I better ask you to see if I do understand...

If I get one, the 2048MBx1, one, then I will have a slot left in case I want to add more later???? is that about it?
