Computer for hd video editing 1k budget!

ok, i heard that for vid editing, people use one hdd for windows only, and then another hd for the video files and programs and other things, is it better to get 2x500gb drives or 1x1tb

That is because disk I/O will always be your biggest bottle neck. If you take the I/O load off one drive for all of the OS transactions then yes it is a wise idea. I would say start out with two separate internal drives and one external for back ups.

i dont know anything about all the raid junk, so maybe you can help. if i got 2 internal hdds, which one would be set up for like files on the dektop or my documents? can i set that myself or is it preset?

Keep it simple. Have one drive for all of your apps and your OS and a second drive for all of your video drive and have a third drive for back ups, don't worry about RAID or anything like that.

i can pick between 1gb 9500gt or 512mb 9600gt for a little more, which one would be best for vid editing?

Neither will really benefit video editing I would look at their other features/benefits and then decide. You going to play any games or anything?

well, i think not, but who knows, i have a 360 for games. if i play any kinda games on pc it wont be much more than old games that i played as a kid, but maybe sometime down the line ill play recent titles
