Guys, forgive me for not knowing what the hell this is, but my laptop is only a month old, so I assumed this was an error. It showed up right when I started my computer. I think it took approximately an hour to finish. I didn't set it up or anything....

What the hell is this??? And is it something wrong??? What triggers it????

it's not an error. chkdsk is a DOS command that checks the integrity of your hard drives, and can usually fix basic errors. i remember from time to time Vista running it automatically, as long as everything checks out ok, there's nothing to worry about.

Otherwise known as the "chkdsk" command.

Whew! Much better to know...it must be automatically scheduled by Vista because I know I didn't do it.

Thank you guys so much (again)! I'm glad you guys know as much as you do!
