im gonna build another computer and im wandering what should i use as far as CPU Intel or amd. the computer will be used for diffent reasons mostly gaming and photo shop everyone's opinion helps on both thankyou

Depends on your budget really.

There's more "value" with an AMD system.

If money was not an issue, I would say go for an Intel build.

i build system for people all the time and its about 80/20 between AMD/intel mainly due to costs

Photoshop & Video Editing - there's notable lag in performance with the AMD - with the new Microsoft i7's. Gaming and everything else AMD Phenom II's hold their own and some games better than Intel i7 - I'd weigh that in my decision if I did alot of photo / video editing as a main use of my PC.

I'm not sure how noticeable it would be, frankly. The problem with benchmarks is that they often have little to do with how computers behave running the software you want to run. What they do is measure how they run the benchmark itself. Generally speaking, the Intel processors will be a little faster and more expensive at each processor type and speed.

I've been using Photoshop for 15 years and the computers of 15 years ago were pretty slow compared to those of today. Yes, Photoshop is more of a power hog these days but, truthfully, most any modern computer can handle it without difficulty. 3D gaming actually needs more computing power than Photoshop does so I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about that. If you have a modern, fast computer and a modern, fast graphics engine, you will be good to go with either brand of processor.

Depends on budget. If you got $1200, intel Core i7, no doubt. Anything between $600 -$1200 , both intel/ AMD provide similar price/ performance ratio. While for machine under $600, AMD likely to be a better choice.
Then it will depends on if you do any overclocking and how often will you upgrade the system.
At this moment in time, I have heard intel is still a slightly better overclocker.
When it come to upgrade, if you looking at getting another CPU within 2-3 years, AMD is the way to go.

yeah, Depensd on budget, I personally think it comes out something like this:
-sub $50= amd
-$50-100ish intel mainly because of 45nm
-$100-200- Tied between amd/intel pretty much, as intel's clock super high and amd has tri cores cheaper than some dual cores
-$200+ Intel still in the lead with i7

i was thinking the i7 but ive got a core duo and i get lag still on crisis i know that would be that but i shouldnt with flight sim x but i didnt know if theres any bad bugs with the i7 or not. money really and issue but under stress whats the best. sorry didnt really read but i did now so over all the best mobo and components to go with an i7

uhh well.. what i got from that is money is an issue, and you are looking for performance. either way i'd still go with intel. shell out the extra cash and do an i7 build. if not you can still do a really nice C2Q build for less $$

I've read statistics that Intel is better for gaming then AMD. The website showed benchmarks and Intel had higher stats.
