i couldn't decide on where to put this thread, so i guess here wuld be as good a choice as any.

i'm a complete newbie to building systems, but i've done my share of research. so far this is what i have decided to use for a gaming system:

cpu: intel core 2 quad Q8200 (LGA 775 socket)
mobo: evga nvidia nForce 780i (LGA 775 socket)
gpu: evga nvidia GeForce GTX 260 superclocked edition
case: coolermaster HAF 932 full tower

i'm leaning toward the seagate barracuda 1 tb hard drive. i haven't yet decided on the ram or psu.

does this all seem in order? any comments would be more than welcome.

Are you going to SLi? If not, save your money from 780i motherboard.

PSU - if you want to SLi. Go for 750W. If you just run single card, 550W would be enough.

And I just want to remind you that intel will get their mainstream core i5 at Oct 09, the LGA 775 will come to end...

I'm gonna be building this paycheck-to-paycheck, and I want to leave my options open in the future without having to take out a mobo and replace it with a new one should I decide to SLI in the future; same with the PSU. I'd rather spend extra first and save the money of upgrading the parts later.

Thanks for the heads up on the CPU/mobo socket info, I'll take it into account when I actually go ahead with the build. I'm in the researching stages now.
