What do you think Windows 7 Retail will sell for?

I'm curious what Windows O/S will sell for in June 10th after the R.C. expires.

Vista ranges in price from 179 Professional -to 89.00 OEM Ultimate to 175 Retail.

After Windows is done testing their Beta / RC version for bugs - how much will it cost to purchase?

* What's the difference between OEM and Retail?
* Is OEM not able to be moved from one PC to another - while Retail - can be used in more than 1 computer?
* I also see Upgrade as an option for Vista SP1 selling for 89 bucks. If it's SP1 - is this considered an upgrade from XP?? Kindof not clear a reason someone would buy an Upgrade SP1 software - when software updates online for free.

I'm expecting around 100 bucks out of pocket when testing is done - but don't want to be surprised by a significantly higher number when it's all said and done. Does past O/S history support that - or does my number look out of whack?

I wouldn't,Not after a failure that Vista was,If Microsoft had any decency in them they would sell it alot cheaper that what vista was,OR if you have proof that you purchased Vista then you should get discount i think.

thats the way i see it because 7 is not a brand new Operating system from the ground up,Its basicly vista with some enhancements and new features that realy should have been in Vista in the first place.

This thread is merely for speculation. There's no way of guessing how much it will cost. I just don't see any reason why it would be cheaper than any other new OS.

To think Microsoft "owes" you a payback, for an OS that you consider a "failure" is ridiculous.

Vista takes a bit more resources than XP, but it does a lot more too, and faster. Ever had to search for a file with XP? rofl

Hardware and Software manufacturers were slow to get on board with drivers for Vista, so everyone blames Microsoft. :rolleyes:

I think it will be same as vista prem, but who knows microsoft may be kind to are pockets this time and put it up on retail for a good price. I think i might just buy the OEM version when i have the cash. I think i spend more on software then actually buying new components for my rig lmao

two hours, as a reminder of the upcoming expiration.

So, basically yes, it will be worthless after March 1st. I was
disappointed by this also. 3 months is way too much "heads up".
A month would have been fine.
