Help upgrading BIOS

I want to upgrade my bios, but I can't find any software on the manufacturer's site, so I'm kind of stuck.

My mobo model is Quanta 09B8, and the bios is Phoenix, v. F.14

The reason I want to update it is because I want to see if one of my usb ports is activated or not, because it hasn't worked since day 1. I never really payed much attention to it, but now that my other two ports are virtually dead, I really need it.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers from the device manager, but that doesn't work either, and my bios has too little options. It won't show any of my drives, hardware, anything. Just some options to boot from a different location and some other thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

How old is this computer? When you upgrade the bios, you are taking a chance on creating a paperweight on older machines if the upgrade goes wrong.

It would be easier to go buy a pci usb card such as this one.

Obviously, you have an OEM machine, such as HP, Gateway, etc. We would need to know the brand and model number of the computer, not the motherboard, unless it was a custom built computer.

Only update BIOS if absolutely necessary. Make sure everything is plugged in properly. If not, follow the advice above and put in a USB card.

and if you do flash read the update and who it applies too. if that flash will not fix your problem then don't do it. if its maybe security or critical then ok.
read the update and take if needed.

Thank you for replying.

My computer is a HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop. I bought it in 2005.
Can I install that usb card in a laptop or is it just for desktops?

It will not work in a laptop. I thought you had a desktop. If some of the ports were working and now they don't, then most likely you have a bad mobo. You would need to take it in to have it repaired/replaced.
