Hard Drive size vs computer ability

Is there a hard drive size vs computer ability?
Is there a certain size or amount of gigabyte size you can you use with a certain computer? Like processor size and hard drive size? all I know is I have intel pentium 4 CPU 1400 MHz 1.4 GHz, 512 RAM

my current harddrive is 127 GB is that too much?

That is plenty. Unless you are running out of room. And some motherboards are limited to how many drives you can have hooked up
when you run processors that are from the pentium 4 era.
Like check out my sig under this post for my drives. But there really is not set limit to how much hard drive space you can have.
Ram on the other hand is what is limited.

I know I'm just asking is it too much for the processor or RAM to handle.
I am thinking of using only one hard drive but I WAS wonder if 127 GB is too much to handle for my system
intel pentium 4 CPU 1400 MHz 1.4 GHz, 512 RAM windows XP

Maybe I should get more ram or something? But than again I might as well by a whole new computer if that. But yeah because I had two hard drives and it really slowed down the computer. Not extremely but yeah so I was thinking just one drive. I mean it could also be a virus or something. Do you think it'll be worth it to upgrade or maybe it's more efficient to buy a whole new desktop altogether?

Oh ok. For that system, it may be a bit rough on it. Also, your power supply has an effect on how much stuff you can have in your system as well.
If you really need more room, then add another hard drive, if not, then leave it go.
However, if the computer starts to really slow down, (mainly cuz you are using a slower pentium 4), then I would suggest buying a new system.
It really doesn't have to be anything fancy, unless you want a ton of bells and whistles.

Sounds like your PC does not support 48bit LBA or it was partitioned with XP with no service packs installed or Windows 2000 preSP3 or earlier OS. But to directly answer your question, no there is no real limit on hard drive size for a certain powered PC. You can have as much or as little space as you want/can attach.

Why does it sound like that? The limit without 48 bit LBA is 137GB, not 127. It sounds like he just has a 140GB hard drive.

Also, Cheese Danish is being very misleading. Increasing your hard drive size or adding more hard drives will not effect your computer's performance, and there is no limit to how much storage you have have with a certain processor or amount of RAM.

127Gb in windows 137GB if you are using 1000000000 as 1GB.

2^28*512 = 128 GiB (not 127)
True enough. It shows up as 127.9GB (most people just see the 127GB part) in Windows because of the 8MB of space windows reserves. A little truncation never hurt anyone :P
