more ram or workstation card?

I run a 4 monitor setup. And i do alot of multitasking. Music videos, msn, sonar,ie7 chrome, winamp, gutiar programs, photoshop lots other stuff all at the same time.

My specs are

Windows XP
Pentuim D CPU 2.66GHz
2 Gig Ram
video cards - Geforce 8600 256ram gts pci-e(2 screens)
- Geforce fx 5200 old pci white slot video card (1 screen)
- onboard video (1 screen)

Now the problem is with all these programs running at the same time my computer lags. So i always have to close programs.

So my friend suggested i buy a workstation card like the navida quadro fx 3800 1 gig video card $849

But i was thinking even if i buy that card and install it, i will still get lagging. I was thinking of buying a new computer with and i7 and about 6 gigs of ram.

Any suggestions? What controlls all the programs running at the same time. Videos cards or ram and proccesors?

help!

here is a pic of my computer when im running all these things

wow, definitely upgrade ram and cpu. graphics cards only help if you do rendering jobs like cad or games.
if you buy another pc, it doesn't have to be the latest and greatest. you could still distribute the load between both machines.

sure you are short on the ram side, upgrade your ram.....
atleast upgrade your ram find if you can hve acess to ddr3 module rams
, and upgrade your processor too.
buying pc is a good option but if you are not willing to spend too much money just upgrade your current system, it will do the same as buying a new pc.

Yeah... for $849 you could build a new pc that would kick that computers butt..your lagging is prolly because of your ye olde processor. I would go with either an i7 rig or a Phenom II rig if you decide to build a new comp.
