Buying a new computer please help

Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a new computer

Heres the link to it
http://www.msy.com.au/SYSTEMS/P2.pdf - asus mother board

its pdf format.

So basicaly, what im going to do is buy the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33Ghz package which is $1010 aud

i'd get a better one if i have enough money.

Then i'd get the upgrade of 4gig of ram which is +$30

and upgrade the graphisc card to an ATI HD 4870 which is +$230 (i've asked them about it)
or i could stick to a 4850 according to reviews, there is not much difference between 4870 and 4850 and i'd save about $80

I'm kind of wanting to mostly play games on it and use it for photoshop and build webpages, etc. But major on gaming.

Would this desktop computer be enough for its price of $1270 aud?

well if it cost more than the ones in america its kind of normal since we have pretty expensive computers here in australia.

Is there anything else i could upgrade?

the package comes with monitors, etc, everything is on the link.

Would it be better to get a gigabyte motherboard instead of asus for an additional of $200?

Thanks in advance hope you guys can help me decide.

Don't forget OS, get 64bit if you can...

I suggest you go for AMD instead as intel LGA775 socket will die out soon.
http://www.msy.com.au/SYSTEMS/Amd-GB.pdf

Get Phenom II 955
+ $50 for 4 GB RAM
OS - suggest getting premium 64 bit OEM if you don't have OS. Ask for the price.
DVD burner - strongly recommend getting SATA interface.
HDD - SATA II interface is the stardard.
Video card: 4770/ 4850/ GTS250 or 4870/GTX260, just get one suit your budget.
PSU: ask the details of PSU! get a good quality one. I suggest minimum 500W - 550W.
Case: No knowledge about the case. Suggest you got at least 2 case fans. Intake at front, exhaust at rear.

is amd better than intell?

asus only please i cant afford gigabyte motherboards :(

and package 1 doesnt have free monitor =]

how bout amd asus instead of the gigabyte? would that be alright?

http://www.msy.com.au/SYSTEMS/Amdgame-2.pdf

and how bout this case?
http://www.nzxt.com/products/apollo/

this PSU?
http://www.aerocool.com.tw/psu/e85-550/e85-550_feature.htm

The new AMD Phenom II is not bad when compare to C2D/ C2Q
AMD Phenom II 955 is compare to Q9550
Phenom II 810 generally perform better than Q8200
So Get 810 to fit the budget...
btw, 720 is a good choice if you overclock.

Just get Asus if you can't afford gigabyte.

NZXT Apollo is a popular case. It should be fine.

Monitor: it mention about A grade... I don't know what exactly it mean, I suggest you checking at the store to see if there are any dead pixel before you take it home.

if thats the case then i'd probably go for AMD then
i'd probably go for 810 instead of 955 to save me some cash if its alright ?
then upgrade to 4 gb of ram and 4850 vga + that case and the PSU alright?

and about the monitor, i learnt about A grades and that so basically im sure i can take it home and if i find any fault with it i can return it

The Triple Cores I posted are faster than that Quad, minus the core of course.

You'd be better off with a 920 for about the same price.

only packages available for phenom II are
720
810
and
955

so its either 720 or 810 and i chose 810 since i was originally going for a core 2 quad

I personally woulg get either Seasonic MII 500W ($125) or Antec Basiq 550W ($119), But they are expensive then what you've chosen

According to out PSU rebranding guide
http://www.computerforum.com/90112-psu-rebranding-guide.html
Asus PSU is manufacture by Acbel Polytech.
I assume $99 Asus P-50GA shouldn't be too bad.

For that money, I would get this instead.

CORSAIR 750TX Power Supply ($109.99) $99.99 after Rebate
